Corporate Citizenship

Here at Venture West Funding, we proudly take an active role in contributing and giving back to our communities. Being at the forefront of the wholesale (broker/correspondent) business, we believe it is our duty to serve as a model for community involvement and public service. VWF firmly adheres to the principles of corporate citizenship and operates in a socially and ethically responsible manner. With this sense of corporate responsibility in place, VWF has participated in and sponsored several events and programs benefiting non-profit organizations and their causes.

: United Food Movement is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to end hunger and reduce waste. Specifically, their vision is to facilitate an efficient distribution system whereby local surplus food is rescued and redistributed free of charge to local families and facilities in need. If only 5% of the food thrown out every day was rescued and redistributed, not one American would go hungry. United Food Movement currently rescues around 250,000 pounds of food per year.

VWF’s Involvement: Loren Tirone of Venture West Funding is the founder and CEO of United Food Movement. Venture West Funding helped raise funds for United Food Movement’s "Bucks for Trucks Capital Campaign" in November 2013. All donations went towards the purchase of a refrigerated truck, which will allow them to rescue and redistribute even more food throughout Southern California. VWF is looking forward to contributing in future events held by United Food Movement and supporting this great cause.

Cycle for SurvivalAbout The Non-Profit and Cause
: Jennifer and David Linn co-founded Cycle for Survival in 2007 to raise crucial funds for rare cancer research. Cycle for Survival became an official Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center event in 2009. It has nearly doubled in size and fundraising totals each successive year, making it one of the fastest growing fundraising events in the world. Cycle for Survival has raised more than $31 million to date, directly funding clinical trials and research studies at MSKCC, and bringing new hope to countless lives touched by rare cancer worldwide.

VWF’s Involvement: Venture West Funding sponsored a team for the 2014 Cycle for Survival event in Hawthorne, CA. VWF raised funds for the event culminating in the 4 hour indoor cycling ride at the South Bay Equinox Fitness Club. Even after the event, Venture West continues its fundraising drive and is actively accepting donations.

The Wonder of Reading

About The Non-Profit and Cause: The Wonder of Reading was created as a not-for-profit organization whose purpose was to inspire in children the love of reading. The organization initiated significant, long-lasting benefits for the community by providing children the inspiration and assistance they needed to experience the wonder of reading. The Wonder of Reading furthered its purpose through the 3R Program (Renovate, Restock, and Read). Renovate: A school-based committee planned a library renovation. WOR expanded library space and provided new carpet, paint, and bookshelves to make the library sparkle. Restock: The school committee replaced outdated and ruined books with $10,000 worth of new books to restock the library's collection. Read: Finally, The Wonder of Reading recruited volunteers. Each volunteer read with a child for an hour every week for the school year. To adapt with the ever-changing landscape of the public education system, The Wonder of Reading has since consolidated its mission into the non-profit organization "Citizens of the World".

VWF’s Involvement: VWF proudly organized and sponsored a special fundraising event to benefit The Wonder of Reading in 2011. The event featured a sit-down dinner and live comedy performance from actor/comedian Paul Reiser at the fabled Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, CA.
